School Ave. Stormwater Pipe Repair Project

The stormwater pipe in the School Avenue area was installed several decades ago. It is made of corrugated metal which is corroding and in need of repair in order to handle water efficiently during storm events.

The 2600 foot-long pipe crosses five intersections, including Siesta Drive and Webber Street, but largely runs along the School Avenue corridor in the public right-of-way.

The project will cost $1.65 million and will be paid with funds already set aside from stormwater assessments. There will be no additional cost to property owners.

Construction

Work is expected to begin in May and weather permitting, take about 90 days. Following that, an additional 30 days will be needed to restore the area.

This pipe rehabilitation project will use trenchless technology to help eliminate open trench excavation. This is less disruptive and will allow the trail to remain in use during most of construction.

However, for safety, some fencing and barricades will be needed to restrict some areas. There may be some closures during delivery of heavy equipment. Your cooperation is appreciated.
